Tidewater Democratic Socialists of America (TDSA) is an activist/organizer community local to the Tidewater region of Virginia (Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, and Williamsburg) focused on pro-democracy anti-capitalist education, recruitment, service, and social change. We act as a local chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), a national organization with more than 80,000 formal members, most famous for its association with the politics of Occupy Wall Street, Bernie Sanders, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. We are not a political party but a political action organization, and we are a big-tent organization welcoming to participants from a variety of political ideologies and walks of life.
